Volvo V60 - five-door front- or all-wheel drive station wagon D-class. Second generation model submitted in February 2018. The presentation of the car took place in its natural "habitat" - on the driveway of a typical residential building in Stockholm. In this way, Volvo emphasized both the rich pedigree of Volvo family cars and the combination of practical design with the needs of a modern family.
The new V60 is built on the Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA), which also underpins the crossover. Volvo XC60 second generation and four models of the 90th series. Compared to its predecessor, it is 126mm longer (4761mm) and 25mm wider (1850mm). At the same time, the wheelbase increased by 96 mm (up to 2872 mm), and the ground clearance was 128 or 136 mm, depending on the modification.
Volvo's full suite of safety systems and technologies are available for the new V60, including the advanced driver assistance systems proven on the XC60 and 90-series models. In particular, the integrated City Safety system, which uses automatic braking technology - the only one on the market that recognizes pedestrians, cyclists and large animals on the road. Electronics automatically slows down the car, helping the driver to avoid potential accidents.
In addition to City Safety, the second-generation Volvo V60 is equipped with the Pilot Assist system, which partially takes over the functions of steering, accelerating and braking on well-marked roads at speeds up to 130 km/h. It has been upgraded, so that the car behaves better in corners.
In addition to the above complexes, the V60 station wagon can be equipped with Run-off Road Mitigation (prevention of exit from the road), Oncoming Lane Mitigation (prevention of departure into oncoming traffic lane) and other driver assistants. Cross Traffic Alert technology is available as an option (also with automatic braking).
The engine range of the “second” Volvo V60 consists of petrol and diesel turbo units. The initial versions are front-wheel drive, equipped with diesel engines D3 (135 hp) and D4 (190 hp). These engines are combined with a six-speed manual gearbox and an eight-speed "automatic". For all-wheel drive modifications, T6 gasoline engines (253 hp or 310 hp) and a T8 hybrid unit (303 hp) are provided in combination with an 8-band automatic transmission.
The second generation Volvo V60 is produced in Belgium.
