Volvo V40 Cross Country - The V40 Cross Country crossover was created on the basis of the V40 hatchback and differs from it not only in plastic bumpers and sills, but also in increased ground clearance by 35 mm, other suspension settings and, of course, the presence of all-wheel drive. The model appeared a year after the release of the V40 (in 2013) and is designed for citizens who lead an active lifestyle.
However, the basic versions of the Volvo V40 Cross Country are also available with front-wheel drive, allowing you to save not only on purchase, but also on fuel consumption. Overall, the engine range is similar to the regular V40 hatchback, with the most economical diesel version consuming just 3.8L/100km. For all-wheel drive versions of the V40 Cross Country, rear-wheel drive is provided by a fifth-generation Haldex clutch, giving the car all-wheel drive habits. However, its light suspension does not allow to overcome serious off-road, but it provides excellent handling on asphalt.
The V40 Cross Country has more and more competitors every year, and the most prominent representatives of the new subclass are the Subaru XV and Mercedes-Benz GLA, the latter built according to a similar recipe based on the Mercedes A-class. In competitors, you can write BMW X1 and Audi Q3. Naturally, all active and passive safety systems available for the V40 hatchback are also present in the V40 Cross Country, and the list of additional equipment is even wider.
