Volvo XC60 - the second generation of Volvo's mid-size crossover debuted in March 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show. 2018 XC60 for the first time in Volvo history recognized "World Car of the Year".

The car received not only a new corporate design of the brand, but also became larger and at the same time visually pressed to the ground. The second generation XC60 is 46mm longer (4688mm), 11mm wider (1902mm) and 55mm lower (1658mm with antenna) former. In terms of the distance between the axles, the novelty was ahead of its predecessor by 91 mm (2865 mm). The XC60 is Volvo's fourth Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) model and the first among the 60 series models.

Natural wood and treated metal are available as trim materials. The rear seats fold both in parts (in a ratio of 60:40) and completely, which allows you to increase the volume of the luggage compartment from 505 liters to 1432 liters.

The list of options included air suspension with a ride height adjustment range of 60 mm.

Already in the basic version, the XC60 is equipped with dual-zone climate control with the CleanZone air quality control system, which filters out dust particles and odors that enter the cabin from the outside and automatically closes the air ducts if the level of outside air pollution is too high. Also included in the initial package was a multimedia complex with a 9-inch vertically oriented display with an anti-reflective coating. Sensus Connect technology allows you to access your smartphone via a USB connection, or using the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps. The latter allow you to listen to music, make calls and send messages. Voice control of vehicle functions is also available.

The Volvo XC60 is supplied to the Ukrainian market in three versions: momentum - classic version Inscription - equipment with the highest level of interior design, R design — top equipment with elements of sporty style.

The model is available with all-wheel drive. Engines: diesel D4 (190 hp) and D5 (235 hp) and gasoline T5 (250 hp), T6 (313 hp). All motors are combined with an 8-speed automatic, and a mechanical six-speed is also available for the D4. In addition, the XC60 is offered in a T8 hybrid version with a 407 hp power plant. (2.0-liter petrol turbo engine + electric motor and 8-speed "automatic").

Traditionally for Volvo, the new car has raised the safety of the driver, passengers and pedestrians to a previously unattainable level. So, the complex of City Safety security systems on the XC60 of the second generation has become even more perfect. in the event that the automatic braking system (AEB) becomes insufficient, automatic steering is activated to help the driver avoid obstacles. City Safety recognizes cars, pedestrians, cyclists and large animals and helps prevent collisions with them. The new oncoming lane departure avoidance function helps to avoid a frontal collision, and the blind spot monitoring system reduces the risk of accidents that occur when changing lanes due to the introduction of an automatic steering function. This level of technology is being introduced for the first time in the premium mid-size crossover segment.

For all trim levels of the second generation Volvo XC60, the Pilot Assist semi-autonomous control function is available as an option. This system takes over steering, acceleration, braking at speeds up to 140 km/h and maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front, making long journeys and traffic jams less tiring.

Production of the second-generation Volvo XC60 started in April 2017 in Torslanda, Sweden and was timed to coincide with Volvo's 90th anniversary.
