Volvo Cars - Volvo was founded in Gothenburg in 1927 - it is one of the oldest Swedish car manufacturers. Translated from Latin, Volvo means "I'm rolling", and the arrow on the emblem indicates the way - forward and up!
Until
the late 1990s, the core of the Volvo Group remained its automotive division, Volvo Personvagnar, which in 1999 became the property of Ford Motor Company. True, the Americans were unable to competently use the valuable asset and ten years later, at the peak of the 2008 crisis, they decided to sell Volvo Cars to the Chinese holding company Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. The transaction took place on March 28, 2010.
The new owners did not influence the policy of the Swedish company, but they helped financially. Thanks to generous investments, Volvo engineers have developed a new modular platform and Drive-E engine family that meet the ambitious Euro 6 emission standards. And at the end of 2014, Volvo, with the efforts of 110 thousand employees, assembled and sold a record 465,866 cars in the world. Almost the entire model range of the company is represented on our market, with the exception of exotic hybrid versions - from the V40 hatchback to the latest generation large XC90 crossover.
In general, the Chinese auto giant of Swedish origin, in addition to well-known cars, buses and trucks, produces trailers, tractors, construction machinery and equipment, ship engines and outboard motors, devices and mechanisms for the aviation and space industries, and is also engaged in financial services.
Company motto: Volvo. For life. ("Volvo. For life.") emphasizes the focus on safety technology in cars.
